Professional corporate portraits can vary from the standard white background headshot. It is true that your Linkedin profile photo needs to convey professionalism, but this doesn’t mean you have to look like everyone else. Depending on your field and how you prefer to market yourself you can go for a friendly, less formal photo that can show more than just head & shoulders. Corporate headshots are absolutely fine, you just have to make sure they don’t look like a portrait from 1989. Things have moved on a bit… There are not absolute wrong or rights but you do want good eye contact and focus on top half (there’s usually no point in full length photos ). These two photos display a different take on corporate portraits. One was shot in the studio, the other in the client’s office. The generous crop allows for a bit more character and stand out in a sea of headshots. It’s always a good idea to discuss your business type and style with a photographer before the session.
